Before Christian Aid's partner organisation, STARS, helped Maynour Sultani start a kitchen garden she struggled to feed her family.
Maynour lives in Afghanistan, a country where 40% of people go hungry each day and one in four children die before their fifth birthday.
STARS provides kitchen garden start up kits. They include tools and seeds to grow a variety of vegetables including lettuces, aubergines, green peppers, courgettes, carrots, potatoes, and onions.
They also provide advice to families about how to care for the different plants so that the families can grow a well balanced, nutritional diet.
Maynour explains the difference her garden makes for her children, 'it keeps them healthy and they get less stomach aches now.'
A life-giving gift like this could provide healthy food for families for years to come.
